How to Choose a Tombstone That Stands the Test of Time

Craft a Legacy That Endures
A memorial stone serves a far greater purpose than simply marking a final resting place. It is a lasting symbol of love, respect, and legacy. When crafted with care and built to endure the elements, a memorial ensures that your loved one’s memory stands firm for generations to come.
At Tombstone Designs, we place great emphasis on the quality and longevity of our materials. Our primary components are Rustenburg black granite, quarried locally in South Africa, and Zimbabwe black granite, sourced from our neighbouring country. These materials are selected for their proven durability and elegant appearance.
While we may occasionally incorporate white marble or coloured granite to break up the design and add visual interest, we do so sparingly. This is because both of these materials, although aesthetically pleasing, lack the long-term durability of black granite. Over time, marble and coloured granite tend to lose their shine and vibrancy, and inscriptions etched into them may fade significantly.
The images below provide a visual comparison:

Choosing the right material is not just a design decision—it is a commitment to preserving a memory that will withstand the passage of time.
